INTERNET REALITY: DIGITAL DATA
This semester we will organize a BLOCKSEMINAR. This means we will have only five meetings spread out over two weeks. Each meeting will be 6 hours long (with breaks). Although this will be rather challenging, it will allow us to study and discuss the problems thoroughly.
A preparatory and introductory meeting will be on:
Friday 11.05.2018 in H 2038 from 12:00 till 14:00.
We will further meet on the following dates:
Wednesday 30.05.2018, 12:00 – 18:00 in MA 542
Friday 01.06.2018, 12:00 – 18:00 in MA 744
Tuesday 05.06.2018, 12:00 – 18:00 in BH-N 128
Thursday 07.06.2018, 12:00 – 18:00 in MA 545
Friday 15.06.2018, 12:00 – 18:00 in MA 75
In the final meeting, we will host all the presentations required for the grade.
In this final seminar, we are going to reflect and discuss problems relating to the use of digital data and privacy. Not only will we study recent scientific research concerning this subject, we will also struggle our way through critical assessments. This course will combine academic resources from psychology, sociology, media theory and philosophy (presented under the guise of the new discipline called „Internet Studies“).
Students will be asked to reflect on the meetings in the form of a blog, read the texts, participate in the debate and finish this course with a group presentation. There is also the option to write an essay. All formal conditions will be explained during the first meeting on Friday 11.05.2018 in H 2038 from 12:00 till 14:00.
Please note: This seminar has a maximum capacity of 20 students. Please send us an e-mail to ensure your place using the contact form.
